Most crowns take two appointments — one to prep the tooth and place a temporary, another a few weeks later to seat the permanent crown. CEREC lets us skip that entirely. We use a digital scan to design your crown chairside, mill it from ceramic in about an hour, and bond it in place before you leave.
The result is a tooth-colored ceramic crown that fits precisely, looks natural, and doesn’t require you to walk around with a temporary for two weeks.
CEREC works well for teeth with large cavities, cracks, or significant wear, and for replacing crowns that have failed or aged out. It’s also a common next step after a root canal, when the tooth needs full coverage to stay protected.
The process starts with a quick intraoral scan — no impression material. From the digital image we design the crown on screen, making adjustments to the fit and bite before sending it to the in-office milling unit. Once milled, we check the fit, make any final adjustments, and bond it to your tooth.
If you’ve been putting off a crown because you don’t have time for multiple appointments, contact us to ask whether same-day is an option for your situation.
